Watch Max the Piano Man Play For Strangers in Newton Upper Falls

It's Arts Festival week and one of the projects is called "The Artful Piano." Look for pianos around town to play.

NEWTON UPPER FALLS, MA — This afternoon one man saw a piano that wasn't his and decided to sit down to play. And that's exactly what the folks who designed the piano had in mind. The piano is part of Newton's Festival of Arts, which kicked off this month. The Artful Pianos installation, colorfully decorated pianos set out for passersby to play, debuted in nine different spots around Newton, including this corner.

This piano is hosted by Fleck Coffee and Espresso Bar and Councilor John Rice. The art? Student artists from Newton South. There are a number of events happening throughout Newton for the next few weeks on account of the Arts Festival, including more piano-themed events.

The Wabban Improvement Society is putting on a concert at the Wabban Library at 2 p.m. this Saturday and next. Then Sunday, Pianist Fred Wagner is performing an impromptu Schubertiade, at 2 pm. on Sunday May 14 at the Newton Free Library (Happy Mother's Day).
