Wentworth Institute of Technology Adds Five Staff Members to Advance Development and Communications

Pattyanne Lyons of Newton Appointed Executive Director of Annual Giving and Alumni Relations

Wentworth Institute of Technology announced that it has added five staff members to further advance the institute’s fundraising and communications.

Carol Estes-Schwartz of Bedford, Mass., serves as Wentworth’s Director of Major and Planned Giving; Lori Friedman of Dedham, Mass., was appointed Director of Corporate Foundations and Government Relations; Sara Clabby of West Greenwich, R.I., serves as Director of Sponsored Programs; Pattyanne Lyons of Newton, Mass., was appointed executive director of Annual Giving and Alumni Relations; and Dennis Nealon of Medway, Mass., serves as associate director of Public Relations and Marketing.

“Each of these new staff members brings deep experience to Wentworth’s fundraising and public relations programs,” said Paula Sakey, the school’s vice president of Institutional Advancement. “This is an exciting time for Wentworth, and I am pleased to have such a strong team in place as we develop new ways to enhance our institution.”

Estes-Schwartz is a fundraising professional who comes to Wentworth with over 20 years of experience in fundraising and higher education. Before joining Wentworth, she managed all aspects of the $1 million annual giving program at The Fenn School and initiated the first comprehensive fundraising effort at Northeastern University’s criminal justice academic division.

Friedman brings 20 years of experience in corporate and foundation relations in higher education. Before joining Wentworth, she designed and implemented fundraising strategies to maximize corporate and foundation engagement at WGBH, Harvard Medical School, and Wellesley College.

Clabby was hired by Wentworth with more than 20 years of experience in research administration at various higher education institutions, including Northeastern and Brown universities.

Lyons is a seasoned professional in the field of volunteer management, fundraising, alumni relations, event planning, and relationship cultivation. Prior to joining Wentworth, she served as director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving at Lesley University and Mount Ida College.

Nealon comes to Wentworth with a rich history of promoting colleges and universities on a regional, national, and global scale. Before joining Wentworth, he worked as a communications executive at Brandeis University, and guided the department chairman and vice chairs of UMass Medical School’s Department of Psychiatry on media relations, communications and marketing issues.
