Wet Bandit Floods Newton Home
The following are excerpts from the Newton police log. An arrest or charge does not indicate a conviction.

Tue., Sept. 2
- A Wallace Street resident said someone broke into her home, plugged the kitchen sink drain, and left the water on. The first floor and basement of the residence flooded. Damage was “extensive.”
- A woman at Randlett Park said she was the victim of a U.S. Treasury Department scam.
- A woman reported someone broke into her Pontiac on Woodward Street and stole change, perfume, and a can of mace.
- A woman reported someone broke into her car on Erie Avenue and stole a few dollars and her registration.
- A woman reported she was the victim of a scam. Someone called saying her brother had been in a car accident and would not be released from the hospital until money had been transferred. She hung up and contacted her brother, who was fine.
Wed., Sept. 3
- Vincent Bastianelli, of Adams Street, Newton, was charged with violating a restraining order.
