Where will pot shops be in Newton if the ban doesn't pass?
The city is proposing multiple potential locations all over the city. Medical stores will be allowed regardless of the outcome of the ban.

The City has released the specific areas that are proposed to be zoned for recreational marijuana stores if the ballot question to Ban retail recreational marijuana stores doesn't pass on November 6. The city is proposing to allow up to 8 stores in these potential locations. Only adults over 21 will be allowed (Medical stores will still be allowed in many locations even if the recreational store ban passes). There will be a half-mile buffer between stores, among other restrictions:
Newton Centre
- Beacon St. around post office (next to a doctor’s office and across the street from residential houses)
- Centre St. south of Cypress St. junction (adjacent to Norwood, Crescent and Trowbridge-residential neighborhood)
