Last week for our first entry for this new Blog, we did The Avenue and their Monday special, a great $2 burger.
Today we are going to follow the weekly calendar and look for a Tuesday special. Now, some of you will bring back a memory combining both the Monday's listing with Tuesday's and think: "I'll gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today". (thank you Wimply). But at the WHITE HORSE TAVERN, Tuesdays are $3 pizza days.
Now I don't know about you, but a $3 pizza? I was more than a little concerned the first time I ordered it. But what comes out to the table is a decent sized (about 12") thin crust (I called it a flat bread and I was corrected).
Just a thin covering of red sauce and a more than decent amount of cheese.
I have enjoyed this pizza on a few Tuesdays and will not hesitate to go back again on other Tuesdays. Being thin crust, every bite will give that little "snap" that is the proof of a properly prepared pizza.
There is no requirement to purchase anything else to get the low price, but if it is a hot day like it has been, and while I do not like beer or other bar drinks, if YOU do, I would think a tall cold one would go perfect with this pizza.
This is a large area, a big bar, a lot of tables on a few levels, pool tables and in the proper weather (nice moderate temperatures), get a table by the HUGE windows that do open up fully and you will feel you are at a sidewalk cafe.
So, I have taken this as a valuable lesson and hope you do as well: Don't let the low price scare you. OK, maybe a 50 cent pizza would scare me.
WHITE HORSE TAVERN...a $3 pizza, who da thunk it!
