High School Quiz Show is a 16-team tournament-style academic game show hosted by local TV and radio personality Billy Costa. The weekly show features four rounds of competition, with the question and answer sections varying by stage. Each high school chosen sends a team into the intellectual fracas, a single-elimination bracket that culminates in the state championship.

The Massachusetts champion then heads to the Governor's Cup Challenge, where it takes on the winner of Granite State Challenge, New Hampshire’s high school game show, for interstate bragging rights.
