Man Dies, Mother Rescued In Newton Fire
"Hoarding conditions" hindered the search for the 62-year-old man during the three-alarm fire.
NEWTON, MA — Officials confirmed that a 62-year-old man who had been reported as missing during a three-alarm, overnight fire in Newton has died. The man's elderly mother had been rescued from 115 Oxford Road as crews continued to search for her son. Newton Fire officials said "hoarding conditions" hampered their search.
The 91-year-old woman was still at the hospital Saturday morning. Her condition was unknown.
At least one firefighter was also taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
