Woman Swats Away Bat-Wielding Thief in Cabot Woods

July 28
A woman said she was walking through Cabot Woods when three men came up and tried to take her bag. They failed and fled. The woman said one of the men was black and had a bat. The other two were white; one had a helmet and the other had a blue rag covering his face, she told police.
A woman on Green Street said someone broke into her home and stole Dolce & Gabbana cologne, a bottle of medication, a change jar, and a North Face jacket.

A man said he received a call from someone claiming to be “Michael Johnson” of the NSTAR utility company. Johnson told the man that he needed to transfer money via a wire service or his electric service would be shut off. Police said it was a scam.
