1. State grants $2.8 million to restore Northampton's Nashawannuck Brook (wwlp.com) — Northampton just secured a $2.8 million state climate resilience grant to advance the Rocky Hill Greenway and Nashawannuck Brook restoration on the former Pine Grove Golf Course. The next phase will restore wetlands, expand accessible trails and boardwalks, and add over 7,000 climate-adapted trees and shrubs, with volunteers expected to help transform the site into cooler, greener public space.
2. Eversource Foundation donates $28,000 to United Way Franklin & Hampshire Region (wwlp.com) — From its Northampton base, the United Way of the Franklin & Hampshire Region has received $28,000 from the Eversource Foundation and employees to bolster local health, education, and financial stability programs. The gift is part of a much larger, multi-state United Way campaign and underscores how corporate donations and employee volunteering help sustain social services for families across Hampshire County.
3. SWEET PRINCE Northeast Tour to Launch Fall 2026 with… (broadwayworld.com) — A new one-woman, interactive Hamlet adaptation was workshopped at 33 Hawley St. in Northampton back in 2025 and is now heading out on a Northeast tour. While the fall 2026 run only visits Boston, Scranton, New York City, and Portland, it showcases how Northampton's arts spaces are quietly helping incubate inventive regional theater projects.
4. On Creating a Non-Binary Buffy & a Crypt of Queens in the Closet: A Conversation with Dom&Ink (therumpus.net) — A Northampton–based interviewer sits down over Zoom with British illustrator Dom&Ink to talk about their new queer, horror-comedy graphic novel Queens of the Crypt. The conversation digs into non-binary representation, horror's current boom, and how campy monsters, librarians, and small haunted towns can help young readers explore identity and resilience.
