31-Year-Old Man Arraigned On Sexual Assault Charges

Methuen man charged with assault with intent to commit rape, kidnapping, and indecent assault and battery on a person over the age of 14.

Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan announced on Monday afternoon that Kevin Suarez, 31, of Methuen, was arraigned in Lowell District Court today on charges of assault with intent to commit rape, kidnapping, and indecent assault and battery on a person over the age of 14.

Judge Barbara Pearson ordered the defendant held without bail pending a 58A dangerousness hearing scheduled for Monday, Aug. 31.

“At approximately 3:50 a.m., on Sunday, August 23, Lowell Police responded to a report of a sexual assault on Middlesex Street in Lowell. Police learned that the defendant had allegedly followed the victim, before grabbing her from behind and dragging her into an alley where he further assaulted her. A civilian nearby heard the victim’s calls for help and came to the scene, preventing the suspect from further attacking the victim. The victim then fled the area, going to a nearby fire station where she received assistance and was taken to Lowell General Hospital. The defendant allegedly fled the area.”-- Middlesex District Attorney’s office.
