NORTH ANDOVER, MA — North Andover has issued a public safety notice as deer hunting season gets underway in the area, with informational signs now posted at certain Town Open Space kiosks.
The notice tells visitors not to tamper with or remove the signs and shares trail guidance for people using areas where hunting is permitted.
For people walking trails where hunting is allowed, the town strongly advised wearing blaze orange, including vests, hats or bandanas, and said pets should also wear bright orange gear when possible.
Pets must remain leashed on town open space trails at all times, year-round.
Archery season runs from Oct. 5 through Nov. 28. Shotgun season is scheduled for Nov. 30 through Dec. 12. Primitive Firearms season runs from Dec. 14 through Dec. 31.
A winter deer season is also listed for Zones 9, 10 and 11, running from Jan. 1 through Jan. 30, 2027.
Residents with questions or concerns are being directed to the Conservation Department at 978-688-9530 or alangevin@northandoverma.gov.
