Andover Choral Society Holds Open Rehearsals

Preparation begins for January 26, 2020 concert - Haydn's "The Creation"

Andover Choral Society, directed by Michael Driscoll, invites those who enjoy singing choral music to attend open rehearsals from 7:20 p.m.-9:30 p.m. on Monday, September 16 and Monday September 23 at Christ Church, 33 Central Street in Andover. All voice parts are welcome.
On Sunday, January 26, 2020, at 3 p.m. Andover Choral Society opens its 90th season with Joseph Haydn’s magnificent oratorio, "The Creation". This jubilant and uplifting work celebrates the creation of the earth, seas, animals, and humans, as described in the Book of Genesis, the Book of Psalms and John Milton’s Paradise Lost. Enjoy Haydn’s enchantingly descriptive orchestral writing, triumphant choruses and a trio of angels, portrayed by soprano, tenor and bass soloists. Originally published in both German and English, Andover Choral Society will perform the work in English.
On Saturday, May 2, 2020, the chorus will perform "Becoming", a concert featuring works of local, Andover area composers, including a piece especially commissioned to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Andover Choral Society.
High school juniors and seniors are invited to sing with Andover Choral Society through the Choral Scholars program. The program is free to students from any town who are currently in good standing in their high school chorus. For more information on Choral Scholars go to andoverchoralsociety.org/choralscholars.
