Lower amounts are expected on parts of Cape Cod and the Islands and near the Rhode Island border.
When is it going to start?
The storm does not have the best timing with Valentine’s Day on Saturday, but the good news is the storm isn’t expected to intensify until late Saturday night.
7News’ Jeremy Reiner said light snow should start falling on Saturday afternoon. Flurries will continue into the evening. Two to 4 inches of snow is expected by 10 p.m. Saturday.
The storm will pick up steam late Saturday night and into Sunday morning when blizzard conditions are possible.
The NWS is warning that travel conditions will be difficult. Gusty winds will blow snow around and lead to low visibility. Roof collapses could be a problem.
The snow will dissipate by noon Sunday and should stop Sunday afternoon.
This month is already the snowiest February on record in Boston and the latest storm may make this month the snowiest month on record in Boston -- and we’re only halfway through the month.
Weather forecasters said another storm could arrive on Wednesday.
