Boston Children's Chorus to Perform at St. Michael Church

The following was submitted by Danielle Wolf.

The Boston Children’s Chorus (BCC) will be performing a Holiday Concert at Saint Michael’s Church on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012 at 3 p.m.

The BCC is a civic arts organization based in Boston that was founded by civic leader Hubie Jones.  The chorus started in 2003 with 20 children and has grown to over 500 children comprising 12 different choirs today.  Children from Boston and its surrounding communities participate in their programs.

The BCC performs public and private events in and around Boston in addition to travelling abroad.  In 2009, 55 of their singers served as cultural ambassadors at the invitation of HM King Abdullah II of the Middle Eastern Country of Jordan and in 2011 they travelled to Beijing, China for a performance for the Premier of China at the Beijing Music Festival.  Locally, they have performed at Fenway Park, The Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the annual Christmas Tree Lighting in Boston.  The late Senator Ted Kennedy, who was a supporter of the chorus, commented that “The Boston Children’s Chorus is one of the finest examples of a youth arts organization I have encountered…the children take my breath away whenever I hear them.  The future of Greater Boston’s children is brighter because of the Boston Children’s Chorus.”
