Do you love to sing? Have you sung in a choir before—or always wanted to try? Andover Choral Society invites singers throughout the Merrimack Valley and surrounding communities to “Come Sing with Us” as it begins its 2026–27 season under the leadership of new Music Director Dr. Charles Tyler Turner. Andover Choral Society will hold open rehearsals for prospective singers on Monday, September 28th and Monday, October 5th from 7:20 to 9:30 p.m. at Christ Church, 33 Central Street, Andover, MA. All voice parts are welcome. While there is no audition to join, singers should be able to match pitch and follow music, and regular attendance and committed participation are expected. &nbsp;The season will culminate in a concert on February 7, 2027, featuring Gabriel Fauré’s beloved Requiem,&nbsp;Haydn's&nbsp;Te Deum,&nbsp;and Rey's&nbsp;Three Tangos.
Andover Choral Society is a volunteer community chorus that brings together singers of different ages, professions, backgrounds, and levels of musical experience. The group is dedicated to presenting exceptional performances, connecting to the larger community, and fostering an appreciation of choral music. They perform two concerts per year, singing a repertoire that focuses on fine choral and choral-orchestral works from the Baroque era to the present day. In addition to the annual concerts, the chorus performs at area assisted living facilities during the holiday season and at other community events. 
Founded in 1929, Andover Choral Society is looking ahead to celebrating its 100th Anniversary under the leadership of new Music Director Dr. Charles Tyler Turner. Dr. Turner brings extensive experience as a choral and orchestral conductor, music educator, and nonprofit leader to his new role with Andover Choral Society. He is enthusiastic about welcoming new singers to the organization and issued an invitation to prospective members. "There is something special about coming together to learn and perform great music. I would love to welcome you to the Andover Choral Society!"

First Burying Ground

Everyone has heard of the 1692 Salem Witchcraft Trials but they may not realize that it is named after Salem because that is where the court was located and where people were hanged. But the trials encompassed nearly all the towns in northeastern Massachusetts. Andover, about 20 miles northwest of Salem, had 45 accusations of witchcraft that was more than any other community. The town had a population of 600 people and half of them were involved in the trials as an accuser or an accused.
Join witchcraft trials expert Richard Hite, author of In The Shadow of Salem, and Carol Majahad, the former director of the North Andover Historical Society, on a fascinating tour of North Andover locations that were involved in the witchcraft trials. You will visit the old cemetery, where townspeople who experienced the trials are buried, including Rev. Francis Dane and the location of the meeting house. The Parson Barnard House, where Thomas Barnard lived after the trials, will be open for visiting after the tour. 
The tour meets and begins at the First Burial Ground on Academy Rd &amp; Court St. at 11am. Every ticket includes a $5 donation to the North Andover Historical Society.
