Castricone to Be Released on House Arrest

Former North Andover High School wrestling coach David Castricone will be released on bail again, but in a very restricted manner.

Castricone, who is charged with possession of child pornography, was out on bail but placed back in jail in late February ago after prosecutors said he had been looking at pornography on a computer -- which was a violation of his bail.

On Monday, a Lawrence District Court judge decided to allow him to be released from jail again, but with house arrest.

"Once the equipment is in place, he will be released on a GPS bracelet confined to his home except for medical emergencies," said Carrie Kimball-Monahan, spokesperson for District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett's office.

Prosecutors had requested that Castricone be held in jail, but Castricone's attorney requested he be on house arrest but allowed to leave his home for attorney visits, counseling and medical emergencies, Monahan said. The judge decided house arrest with the only exception being medical emergencies.

Castricone after a student at NAHS reported that she had seen him in the girls' locker room and police said they found a stash of child pornography in his home. He resigned as coach at that time as well.

Castricone's next scheduled court date is March 30.
