Congressional Staff To Visit North Andover For Flood Relief

Staff members of U.S. Rep. Seth Moulten will visit North Andover on Wednesday after flooding led to $30 million in damages.

NORTH ANDOVER, MA — Residents and business owners impacted by recent flooding in North Andover will have the opportunity to meet with staff members of U.S. Rep. Seth Moulten (D-Salem) on Wednesday.

Moulten posted the following: "Members of my staff will be at the North Andover Town Hall tomorrow afternoon (August 23rd) from 2-3 PM and available to meet with constituents who have been impacted by the recent flooding.

"If you live or own a business in the impacted area and need help, please come by tomorrow."

The meeting will be held in the Select Board Meeting Room on the second floor of the Town Hall.

A post from the Town of North Andover noted that the purpose of the visit is to meet with constituents and small businesses in Andover, North Andover, Tewksbury, and the surrounding towns that were impacted by the damages.

The news comes as the storm damage estimate for the town inches closer to $30 million. Initially, the town had estimated about $20 million in damages after six inches of rain fell Aug. 8, leading to a local state of emergency, The Eagle-Tribune reported.

The higher number includes further destruction after intense rain fell Aug. 18. The number includes $3 million in damages to public facilities.
