Deadly Haverhill Home Invasion Over Pot: Couple Sentenced

Angela Walsh and Joshua Cloutman planned a botched 2012 robbery that left two men dead.

HAVERHILL, MA — A Haverhill couple on Thursday was sentenced for planning a botched 2012 robbery that left two men dead.

Angela Walsh, 25, and Joshua Cloutman, 24, pleaded guilty to armed robbery and breaking and entering. Walsh received 7 to 9 years in prison; Cloutman received 5-6 years. In exchange for the pleas, prosecutors dropped murder charges against them.

The robbery happened July 23, 2012. Police said co-conspirators Juan Carlos Sanchez and Anddy Guzman broke into a River Street apartment to steal marijuana and cash. Gunshots rang out and Guzman and a resident of the apartment were killed.

Police said Walsh and Cloutman lived above the apartment and planned the robbery.

"The defendants played an integral role in planning and assisting to execute a plan to steal drugs from their downstairs neighbor," Essex Assistant District Attorney Jean Curran said in a statement. "The information they provided to Mr. Sanchez facilitated the home invasion which resulted in the death of two people."
