DiZoglio to Host Polito for Tour of Merrimack College Crosswalk
State Rep. Diana DiZoglio will host Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito for a project update and tour of the newly installed Route 114 crosswalk.

State Representative Diana DiZoglio (D-Methuen) will host Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito for a project update and tour of the newly installed Route 114 crosswalk at Merrimack College. The tour is set for Thursday, November 3 at 1:30pm.
Earlier this fall, the crosswalk – situated between Merrimack College and the Royal Crest apartments – opened to pedestrians, including the many students who reside at the apartment complex. Public safety improvements along this section of the 114 corridor are still in the process of being completed.
Students, staff and local residents frequently cross the traffic-packed four-lane road. In 2014, DOT stated in its safety audit of the roadway that Route 114 has among the highest reported incidents of vehicle accidents in the area. In recent years, the North Andover legislative delegation has worked alongside town and college officials to address these public safety concerns.

“We in the legislative delegation worked hard to secure funding for this project and Lt. Gov. Polito was there every step of the way to help address our concerns,” said DiZoglio. “Now, with the state funding allocated, and Merrimack College providing 50% of the total project costs, we are making huge strides. The crosswalk and traffic signals are up and we are now moving toward other related public safety improvements along the corridor. I look forward to providing the lieutenant governor with a project update and a brief tour of these long overdue improvements.”
State, local and college officials involved in the project have been invited to attend.
