DOROTHY DAY, a retreat day on Contemplation and Compassion
with Retreat Leader, Padraic O'Hare on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 9:30am-3:30pm

Dorothy Day wrote of Theresa of Avila, that Theresa was a “mystic and a practical woman.” And of her own spiritual yearning, and turn to God, “How can there be no God when there are all these beautiful things.” and the experimental artist and actor, Julia Malina, wrote of Dorothy, “I finally learned what she had been trying to teach me (in jail together) ...It’s a holiness here and now which consists of treating every person as a holy being.” This retreat day will plumb Dorothy’s life in film and discourse, and emulate her passion for just and peaceful acts emerging from contemplative prayer by engaging in such prayer. Dorothy lived Aquinas’ formula “In action we pour forth for love what we have received in contemplation.”
