Embrace the Mess: The Spiritual Gift of Failure

A Day Apart Retreat at Rolling Ridge on November 17, 2015 with retreat leader, Ben Yosua-Davis

Life is messy. We encounter it more often than we could care to admit: in our careers, in our relationships, and in our churches. Our success-worshipping culture gives us few ways to embrace the moments when we screw up at work, when no one shows up to our Bible study, or when we disappoint someone we care about. But what if the mess is a gift? We’ll explore scripture, learn how to claim the moments where everything doesn’t go as planned, and find ways to experience God within the complexity that is life.

Ben Yosua-Davis is a former United Methodists church planter. With his wife Melissa, he co-planted the Vine, a new church without a building or weekly worship in Haverhill, MA. He now writes about his experiences on the spiritual frontiers of the country at www.benyd.com
