Essex North District Medical Society Names North Andover Physicial 2011 Community Clinician of the Year

North Andover resident Eduardo da Silva Haddad, M.D., has been honored as the 2011 Community Clinician of the Year by his physician peers of the Essex North District Medical Society.
The award was presented April 13 by district society president Glenn Kimball, M.D., at the Peabody Marriott.
The Community Clinician of the Year Award was established in 1998 by the Massachusetts Medical Society to recognize a physician from each of the Society’s 20 district medical societies who has made significant contributions to his or her patients and the community and who stands out as a leading advocate and caregiver. The Essex North district is comprised of more than 400 physicians who live and work in 16 communities in northern Essex County.

Board certified in internal medicine with a sub-specialty in nephrology, a branch of medicine dealing with the function and diseases of the kidney, Dr. Haddad is the medical director of the DSI Dialysis Clinics in Amesbury and North Andover. He is also an instructor in medicine at Tufts University Medical School and a faculty member for the Greater Lawrence Family Residency Program affiliated with Tufts Medical School.
He received his medical degree from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil in a six-year college/medical school program and did his residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital and the Veterans Administration Hospital in Miami. He completed a Fellowship in nephrology at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Dr. Haddad has staff appointments at Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence where he is president of the medical staff and trustee, Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, Saints Memorial Medical Center in Lowell, Merrimack Valley Hospital and Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital in Haverhill, Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, and North East Rehabilitation Hospital in Salem, N.H.
