First United Methodist Church of North Andover welcomes John Nilsen for a solo piano concert on Thursday, September 27 at 7:00 pm. John Nilsen is an award winning pianist and composer from Oregon. He began studying classical piano at age 6, and has gone on to record 18 CDs. He has performed piano concerts throughout the United States and toured Europe and Asia, while selling over one million CDs.
The concert will include a mix of sacred and secular music. Mr. Nilsen will perform some traditional hymn arrangements, along with several of his own compositions, which he describes as a weave of folk, jazz, and classical, all interspersed with stories of his life and travels. A free-will offering will be collected, and Mr. Nilsen will have CDs of his music available for sale after the show.
