Italy Uncorked: Ciro Pirone Leads a Tour of Italy's Regional Wines at The Wine ConneXtion

Italians have an old Latin expression about wine: in vino veritas (in wine, there is truth). On Saturday, March 3rd, 2012, The Wine ConneXtion, located in North Andover, MA, will share with its guests the truth about Italian wine at a complimentary tasting led by Ciro Pirone, the Director of Italian Wines for Horizon Beverage Company. From 12:00PM-5:00PM, Pirone will share his passion for Italian wine and reveal excellent, affordable finds from Piemonte, Tuscany, Abruzzo, Sicily and other great wine producing regions of Italy. Guests will also get to enjoy some great Italian deli treats from Borrelli’s Italian Deli located in Metheun, MA, that will pair with Pirone’s picks.     

Pirone is a man who knows a thing or two about Italian wine. He was born and raised in Salerno, Italy, where his family’s lifestyle and traditions fed his passion for wine, food and culture. A graduate of the Istituto Alberghiero di Salerno where he studied hotel and restaurant management, Pirone continued his education abroad as he took classes at Boston University, the International Sommelier Guild and the London-based Wine & Spirits Educational Trust (WSET). As the Director of Italian Wines for Horizon Beverages, his goal is to help American wine consumers better understand and appreciate the wine from his homeland.
