Forest Street In North Andover Closed After Telephone Pole Snaps

NORTH ANDOVER, MA -- Crews were working to repair a telephone pole that snapped on Forest Street in North Andover early Tuesday afternoon. The road is closed in places and drivers were being asked to avoid it, especially in the section Forest Street and Jared Place.

It's unclear what caused the telephone pole to snap but weather is a likely cause. National Grid, which has been working to restore power to its more than 100,000 Massachusetts customers without power, warned that even though the wind has subsided, water-logged limbs and weakened utility poles could stil fall in coming days.

North Andover officials have not provided an estimated time on when service may be restored.
