Former St. John's Prep Football Star Falls Off Boat in Florida; Swims 9 Miles to Shore

Rob Konrad, a former NFL player who grew up in North Andover, fell off his fishing boat, and survived by swimming to shore.

Rob Konrad, a former St. John’s Prep High School football star in Danvers, Mass., who also a running back for the Miami Dolphins, fell off his fishing boat and swam 9 miles to shore, according to wppf.com, a Florida-based news station. He grew up in North Andover.

Konrad attended St. John’s Prep in Danvers from 1991 and graduated in 1995. Konrad was inducted into the high school’s Hall of Fame in 2006. He went on to play at Syracuse University, according to school officials.

Konrad was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the second round of the NFL draft in 1999. He played on the Miami Dolphins from 1999 to 2004.
