Amesbury Girl, 13, Dropped Off Dead At Emergency Room

Authorities said the girl was dropped off at Lawrence General Hospital. Her identity was determined but withheld because she is a minor.

LAWRENCE, MA — Authorities are searching for answers after a 13-year-old Amesbury girl was dropped off at Lawrence General Hospital Monday afternoon and pronounced dead shortly after. Essex County District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett said the girl's identity has been determined but he's withholding it because she is a minor. The girl's manner of death was undetermined.

The girl was brought to the emergency room at 4:47 p.m. She is thought to have died before making it to the hospital. A Blodgett spokesperson told The Eagle-Tribune she was not brought to the hospital by an ambulance but "by other means."

An autopsy will be performed Tuesday, but the Blodgett expects it "will take some time before there is a ruling on the case and manner of death."
