Great Escape: A New Haute Spot
Each week, we'll tell you about one great idea to give you a much deserved break, and make your life a little easier, maybe a whole lot easier.
Trying out a new restaurant is like embarking on an adventure. You may have heard the reviews, but there is still mystery and suspense until you have completed the experience.
A Haute Dish, 4 Johnson St., is a new cafe that opened this week on the first floor of the Hay Scales Exchange Building. It is not only an establishment serving breakfast and lunch, but they offer full service catering or pickup from the bistro.
North Andover resident and chef/owner Jennifer Broberg is a Johnson and Wales Culinary School graduate who developed her passion for cooking when she was 13. Her catering business and gourmet cafe was previously located in Haverhill for the past four years.

"I always wanted to be in North Andover, and then one of my customers called me to let me know about the space at Hay Scales Exchange Building," she explained.
The new location allows her seating for 30 patrons. Breakfast items include eggs, bagels, quiche of the day and bakery items. Her Sand-Wedge and lunch selection includes a variety of sandwiches including turkey and dill harvarti, 'groovin cuban', a panini with pulled pork and swiss cheese, home-made soups and other specials.

Although A Haute Dish serves breakfast and lunch, it is open until 6pm and those wishing a late lunch or an early light dinner can still indulge, according to Broberg.
The venue also allows Broberg to offer a "An Interactive Dinner," an evening event held at the bistro for 12-24 guests. "It incorporates cooking instruction with hands on cooking experience, interaction with your guests and an unbelievable dining experience all rolled into one event," she explained.
Broberg said that the interactive dinner is perfect to share with friends, family, employees or planned as a fund raising event.
Attending an open house for the new cafe last Friday night, I was able to sample some of Broberg's hors d'oeuvres including her signature and delicious Asian Layer Chicken and Steamed Vegetable Dip with fried wanton chips.
That was an escape in itself!
