LAWRENCE, MA — An 11-year-old Haverhill girl died after being found unresponsive in a family member's apartment over the weekend. The Essex County District Attorney's office said Precious Wallaces was pronounced dead Tuesday evening.

The death of Wallaces, a sixth-grade student at Consentino School, is being investigated by state and local police.

The DA's office said a call early Saturday morning brought emergency services to a Jackson Street apartment in Lawrence, where Wallaces was visiting a family member. Wallaces was found unresponsive and brought to Lawrence General Hospital before being being flown to Tufts Medical Center.
