High Wind Advisory; Possibility of Snow Squalls Monday

Winds this strong could cause downed tree limbs, power outages. Driving could also be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory that will be in effect until 7 Monday night for all of Massachusetts, Rhode Island and northern Connecticut.

Meanwhile, snow squalls are possible later Monday morning and afternoon in the region. The timing and intensity of the snow qualls is somewhat uncertain, according to forecasters.

“Nevertheless, be prepared for possible scattered snow showers/squalls with the potential to deliver a quick inch if so of snowfall in a short period of time,” according to the National Weather Service. ”This may result in brief slippery travel along with poor visibility.”

Winds of 20 to 30 miles per hour coming from the west will produce gusts up to 50 miles per hour on Monday.

A wind advisory is issued when sustained winds are forecast to be 31 to 39 miles per hour or gusts will range between 46 and 57 miles per hour.
