Improved Golfland Reopens Saturday

Golfland USA opens Saturday with a new coat of paint, new landscaping and new management.

Golfland USA will open for the summer on Saturday, May 28, with some major improvements. The most significant change is new manager/operator Stew Pruslin. The Wellesley native and Wilmington resident is leasing the miniature golf course which has been owned by Chris Adams since 1969.

Pruslin painted, refurbished and landscaped the course located at 1591 Osgood St. (Route 125 adjacent to ). Although it had been restored in 2009, he said that Adams who has health problems was not able to keep it going. "It would be open one day and closed the next," he explained.

"I wanted to give it a fresh start," he said.

A long-time fan of mini-golf, Pruslin saw it as a great opportunity, without the huge risk of purchasing a business. Through a mutual friend, he found out that Adams, who was in his late seventies, was looking for someone to take over the operations.

Pruslin, a former teacher in North Reading owns Group Dynamic, which he describes as an after-school group counseling program that focuses on children's self-esteem. In addition he is on the staff of Academy Metro West of Natick where he works as a counselor in a similar program.

Since the majority of his work is during the academic year, Pruslin has a flexible schedule during the summer. This will enable him to be at the course most of the time. Even though he has a number of people eager to help out, he said," I am definitely not going to be an absentee manager."

This Memorial Day weekend, Golfland USA will feature an opening special of $2.50 round. After the weekend, the price will be attractive,"making the course the most affordable in the area," he said.

Golfland USA will offer special group rates for birthday parties, camps, team building, etc. and promotions such as free and discounted rounds for students with high attendance and special combination deals with according to Pruslin.

A father of a 3 1/2 year old son, Pruslin's goal is to manage Golfland USA for many years. He said he is motivated and excited to bring back what has provided entertainment for multiple generations of families for over forty years.

"It has long been regarded as one of the best courses in the area," he said.

Golfland USA will be open seven days a week, weather permitting, 11:00 to 9:30 p.m. More information can be found on the Web site and on Facebook.
