NORTH ANDOVER, MA — Lake Cochichewick is unsafe for swimming and fishing due to a cyanobacteria algae bloom, North Andover said in an alert Thursday.

The town's drinking water is treated and unaffected, the town said. It is monitored to ensure it is safe.

Animals should also be kept away from the lake and residents should rinse off after any contact with the water. The town is working with state officials to address the condition of the lake.
