Making the Cut: New Barber Shop Comes to Town
North Andover Barber Shop is seeing success.

John Daniel decided that, despite the bad economy, he was willing to take a chance on North Andover.
So Daniel opened his North Andover Barber Shop at 569 Chickering Road in March. And things have been pretty successful.
"It's been great," Daniel said. "Almost every customer who comes in as a walk-in comes back as a regular. I've had good luck with the place."

Danie's family bought a home in North Andover several years ago, and he joined them. After working for other barber shops in Lawrence and Tewksbury for years, he decided to open his own. And thus North Andover Barber Shop was born.
North Andover Barber Shop is a traditional men's barber shop. He's one of the few barbers who still use sharp straight razors.

And a note to moms: Much of Daniel's success in town has been with kids, especially middle school age children. In particular, they seem to like his talent of shaving team logos on their heads.
Daniel had a partner, but that partner left recently. With business building in town, Daniel says he would like to hire another barber to help out.
"It has its moments when it can be overwhelming," Daniel said. "I would love to have another barber."
Opening a new business in North Andover is just one part of a new beginning for Daniel. He and his wife Courtney are expecting their first child -- a boy they plan to name Brian -- in September.
