Man Killed Just Before Midnight On New Year's Eve In Lawrence

LAWRENCE, MA — A man was killed in a shooting shortly before midnight on New Year's Eve in Lawrence, the Essex District Attorney's Office announced Wednesday. Wilson Javier, 35, of Salem, N.H. was killed at around 11:49 p.m., they said. Police received a call about gunshots on Summer Street and found the man suffering from a gunshot wound.

Javier was pronounced dead soon after his arrival at a local hospital. According to the latest release, no arrests have been made. The Essex DA’s Office, Lawrence Police and Essex State Police Detective Unit are investigating.

"It is premature to comment on suspects or motive," the office said in a release announcing the victim's identity.
