WHAT: In early December, Bryan Boutin was enjoying dinner with his friends and family when disaster struck, and he began choking.

A group of off-duty Lawrence firefighters quickly leapt into action as Bryan lost consciousness and turned blue. The firefighters used chest compressions to keep him alive as tensions grew and a crowd gathered around. Just then, one of the men reached into Bryan’s mouth and was incredibly able to dislodge the 3-inch piece of prime rib by hand. Because of their quick thinking and bravery, Bryan Boutin is alive today.
