MBTA: It Could Take a Up to 30 Days To Get Service Back On Track

The MBTA’s General Manager Beverly Scott, in a press conference on Monday, said it could take up to 30 days to get the whole transit system back on track, but that is only if there is no more major snowstorms.

The public transit system, including the commuter rail service shut down completely on Valentine’s Day evening, and operated on a limited basis on Presidents’ Day.

The MBTA subway and trail lines will operate on a limited basis on Tuesday, Feb. 17.

The MBTA does not allow for monthly pass holders to request refunds for days when the rail or MBTA subway system is not running. The subway and rail has been shut down at least 3 days this month.

Yesterday, the MBTA was using inmates to help shovel the tracks. It was also paying individual $30 an hour who wanted to shovel out subway and rail tracks.

Last week, Scott, who was hired by former Gov. Deval Patrick, announced she was resigning. The Boston Herald published a report last week that stated salaries soared since Scott was hired.

The MBTA, Scott said she has filed for federal disaster assistance.
