Merrimack Valley’s Only Conservative Synagogue Launches New Preschool Program for Children and Parents

Located in Andover, this new program at Congregation Beth Israel is geared toward 4-year-olds.

By Liz Taurasi

Congregation Beth Israel of Andover has announced the establishment of its new Pre-Kindergarten program. The class, geared to 4-year-olds, is designed to be an experiential entry into the synagogue. Members of the class will use their senses to actively experience Jewish holidays and traditions thru art activities, cooking projects, movement and music, and stories. Children will learn songs and rhymes in Hebrew that will introduce them to the beauty of the Hebrew language, and help them forge a connection with the land of Israel and Jews around the world. Building upon the concept of project-based learning, the class will engage in age appropriate creative group projects that will strengthen the ties among class members and lead to the development of a strong classroom community.

The class will meet twice a month for a two hour session. Parents will be invited to join the last 30 minutes of each class to share a story, project, or creative activity to reinforce the learning and fun of the day.
