Methuen Family Hospitalized After Carbon Monoxide Exposure

METHUEN, MA – A family of four in Methuen was hospitalized Thursday after experiencing symptoms consistent with carbon monoxide exposure, according to reports. The fire department responded to the West Street home around 3 a.m. to reports of family members suffering from headaches and nausea. Emergency crews found carbon monoxide levels of 500 parts per million inside the home, according to reports.

Investigators believe a generator the family was using to power their home following mass power outages in the area this week may have caused the high levels of carbon monoxide, Boston 25 reported. The generator had been put outside the home but against the garage.

Two children, a mother and a grandmother were taken to Lawrence General Hospital to be checked out.
