Mistral Announces its 19th Season

Julie Scolnik, artistic director

MISTRAL has been bringing “unstuffy, unpredictable, and unmatched” concerts with internationally renowned musicians to the Merrimack Valley and Greater Boston area since 1997. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Julie Scolnik, Mistral performances are always a little eccentric, stubbornly personal, impassioned, and committed to invigorating old traditions with an ever-youthful perspective. The Mistral 2015-16 concert season is funded in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

The season kicks off with an imposing cast of 11 artists on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 5pm (West Parish, Andover) inMASTERS of MELODY,” with beguiling chamber arrangements by Mozart, Weber, and Messager. Arranged by Mistral clarinetist Todd Palmer, André Messager’s ballet The Two Pigeons, is based on a Jean de la Fontaine fable. This sparkling suite keeps the richness and elegance of the ballet’s original, enchanting, Gallic score. Mozart’s Concerto for Flute & Harp is a delightful example of salon music, designed to charm the late 18th century’s aristocratic Parisian society. Artistic director Julie Scolnik is the flute soloist with young virtuoso harpist Krysten Keches.

Tickets $30/$25 Seniors, $5/Youth with adult, $10 Students with ID. Contact us about group discounts. Order securely online at www.MistralMusic.org, email sales@mistralmusic.org, or call 978-474-6222.
