“The work will commence on I-93 northbound and then shift to I-93 southbound. Following those work activities, there will be isolated, short-term ramp closures within this section of I-93 to allow work crews to install pavement markings for the entrance and exit ramps. During the ramp closures, affected traffic will be detoured to the next interchange.

“This safety critical work is being scheduled for daytime operations as forecasted nighttime temperatures and weather conditions are not within acceptable tolerances,” according to MassDOT.

MassDOT is encouraging drivers to seek alternate routes to avoid delays and asked that drivers allow for extra time and use caution when driving in the work zone.

The road work is part of a $16.4 million project to resurface and rehabilitate this section of I-93.
