NAHS Marching Band Earns GOLD at NESBA Championships!

The North Andover High School Scarlet Knights Marching Band ended a successful season at NESBA Championships in Lawrence on Sunday, 11/3/19.

The North Andover High School Scarlet Knights Marching band concluded the 2019 competition season with a score of 91.02 and earning a Gold Medal at the New England Scholastic Band Association Marching Band Championships in Lawrence on Sunday, November 3rd.

This year’s production, “With Great Power” is a tribute to heroes. The show features color guard performers and over sized comic book props depicting fictional super heroes, with musical arrangements of the Batman, Spiderman theme songs. The music transitions to a combination of the Superman theme song with “Fanfare for the Common Man”, and a finale of “Summons of the Heroes” as the comic book pages are turned to reveal and celebrate the real life heroes amongst us; first responders, military, teachers, and parents.

The competition season kicked off at the NAHS home show on September 28th at which the Knights earned a score of 77.00 for a silver medal, and continued with steady improvement in Wakefield, Billerica and Reading prior to the Lawrence championships. Though challenged by schedule and practice venue changes due to the town’s Triple E curfew, staff, students, and administration worked together to ensure the show’s success.
