NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - The North Andover Democratic Town Committee gathered earlier this month and voted unanimously to endorse Phil DeCologero who is seeking the Democratic nomination for State Representative. The committee cited Phil’s work to get voters involved and his emphasis on small business development as main factors in their decision.
Committee chairwoman Tricia Melvin voiced her support for Phil’s candidacy, saying, “The work Phil has done to engage voters in the Merrimack Valley shows his commitment to making government more accessible and open. We need the credible representation that Phil can bring as it has been lacking the last two years”.
DeCologero is challenging incumbent Diana DiZoglio (D-Methuen).

John Fouhy, named Democrat of the Year for 2014 earlier this year by the committee, declared his support as well. “Phil is a steadfast advocate for the needs of the families in the district. He is the epitome of what a representative should be and our neighbors in North Andover, Methuen, Lawrence and Haverhill deserve that type of spirited and knowledgeable representation,” said Fouhy. “As our representative, I know Phil will continue to fight for those people because of his commitment to expanding and engaging voters in the democratic process”.
Another major factor in the committee’s decision was DeCologero's work to help small businesses in the North Andover and the Merrimack Valley. Walter Kirby, a small business owner and active member of the committee drew from past experience, saying, “Having worked with him on the North Andover Democratic Town Committee, I saw first-hand that Phil is always concerned about the impacts decisions can have on small businesses. He has been a strong supporter of the needs of small businesses and is committed to helping spur business growth in the community”.

Phil DeCologero has had a long relationship with the committee, beginning in 2005 when he was awarded their scholarship after graduating from North Andover High School. Soon after he was invited to join the NADTC. A former staff member to Methuen Mayor Steve Zanni, DeCologero is a life-long resident of North Andover. Since graduating from Merrimack College, DeCologero and his wife have settled into their home on Kingston Street where they are raising their 3-year old daughter, Sophia.
