North Andover Hazmat Situation: Route 114 Reopened

NORTH ANDOVER, MA — Route 114 has been reopened after a hazmat team responded to gas canisters in the road by Merrimack College. The road is shut down in both directions between the Route 125 Bypass and Wilson's Corner, police said.

Reports indicated the canisters were leaking, but that has not been confirmed. Merrimack College told students in an email that gas canisters fell from the back of a truck.

Police called it "a possible hazardous condition." Crews were scene are determining how to remove the tanks from the road.
