North Andover Jumps In Statewide School District Rankings

NORTH ANDOVER, MA -- School Digger, a nationwide school rankings site, released its updated list of top Massachusetts schools and school districts Thursday, and the North Andover Public School System was ranked significantly higher than it was a year ago. In the new rankings, which were based partially on MCAS test data the state released last week, Andover was 106th, up from 140 a year ago.

The rankings mean North Adover performed better up than 68.3% of all other districts in the state. That's below the high water mark of 70.7% posted in 2015, but a significant jump from last year, when the district performed better than just 57.8% of the other school districts in Massachusetts.

Thursday's School Digger release also showed how individual schools in the district compared to every other school in the state:

• Franklin Elementary, 113th out of 934 elementary schools.
• Kittredge Elementary, 136th out of 934 elementary schools.
• Atkinson Elementary, 423rd out of 934 elementary schools.
• Thomson Elementary, 434th out of 934 elementary schools.
• Annie L. Sargent, Elementary, 439th out of 934 elementary schools.
• North Andover Middle School, 80th out of 476 middle schools.
• North Andover High School, 73rd out of 340 high schools.
