North Andover Man Facing Animal Neglect Charges In NH

Mark McNally, 22, of North Andover, left his dog in a car where temperatures reached 139 degrees while he shopped.

MERRIMACK, NH -- A North Andover man was arrested Monday after Merrimack, NH police were called to a shopping center to free his dog from his car. Police charged Mark McNally, 22, of North Andover, with animal neglect after freeing the dog, which was panting and visibly distressed after the temperature rose to 139 degrees Fahrenheit in the vehicle.

The outside temperature had hit 90 degrees when police responded to the 1:30 pm call from the Merrimack Premium Outlets. The dog was returned back to McNally, who was released on personal recognizance. He is scheduled to be back in court next week.
