North Andover Middle School Music Students Earn Platinum and Gold at the 2016 Great East Festival!

The NAMS 8th Grade Band, the NAMS Jazz Band, and the NAMS "A Little Knight Music" Chorus gave award winning performances at Great East.

As part of the 2016 Great East Music Festivals, 13 bands and 9 chorus groups from MA, NH and RI performed at the North Andover Middle School on Friday, May 27th. Great East is an educational music festival series during which more than 500 ensembles perform at host schools throughout New England.

For their performances on Friday, the NAMS 8th Grade Band and the NAMS Jazz Band each earned a Platinum Medal Rating, receiving scores of 95 or higher from each judge. This is the second time a NAMS 8th Grade Band has earned Platinum, and the first time for a NAMS Jazz Band. Historically, only about 3% of performing ensembles earn Platinum at Great East. NAMS earned two of only three Platinum ratings awarded Friday.

In addition, the NAMS “A Little Knight Music” Chorus earned a Gold Medal Rating. The after school choral ensemble was newly formed this year, and is the first NAMS chorus group to participate in the Great East Festivals since 2008.
