North Andover Music Association Announces Scholarship Recipients
NAMA awarded scholarships to four talented and deserving students at the annual NAHS Music Awards Night on June 4th.

The North Andover Music Association was pleased to award $600 music scholarships to each of four North Andover High School seniors during the June 4th Music Awards Night. This year's recipients are Emily Cummings, Will Ferguson, Elliott Bruce, and Michael Doughty.
Emily Cummings has been both chorus President and Vice President. She sang with NAHS The Scarlet and Black Singers since her sophomore year, as well as the Senior District and All State Choruses and the All National Honor Choir. Emily was also involved with the NAHS Drama Guild, Acting Out Theatre, and the Methuen Young Peoples Theatre. Emily plans to double major in Vocal performance and Environmental Science in the Honors College at the University of Vermont. Emily also received a National Choral Award during the ceremony.
Will Ferguson performed in The Scarlet and Black Singers since his sophomore year, the Senior District choir all four years, with All State Choruses three times, and in the All National and Eastern Honors Mixed Choirs. He is a recipient of the Massachusetts Music Educators Excellence Award for the Northeast District. Will has also been involved in NAHS Drama Guild, Acting Out Theater, Cross Country and Outdoor Track. He plans to pursue a Music Education Certificate at Connecticut College. Will is a co-recipient of this year’s National Choral Award, presented at the ceremony.

Elliott Bruce has served as band President and Vice President. He performed in the NAHS Wind Ensemble, Pep Band, Jazz Band, Pit Orchestra for NAHS Drama, as well as the MMEA Senior District Band and All State Orchestra this year. Elliott was named band “rookie of the year” during his freshman year, and was crowned Mr. North Andover as a senior. Elliott plans to continue ensemble performance while studying physical education at UMass Amherst. Additionally, Elliott was announced as this year’s John Phillip Sousa award winner.
Michael Doughty was a member of several NAHS ensembles including Wind Ensemble, Pep Band and Jazz Band. He is also a bassist for several outside ensembles including the Drama Guild Pit Orchestra, and Acting Out Pit Orchestra. Michael will study Music performance and audio engineering at the Berkley College of Music in the fall. Michael also received the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award this year.
