NORTH ANDOVER, MA -- North Andover Public Schools named Lorene Marx its new assistant superintendent. Marx, who been North Andover’s Director of Humanities since 2014 and served as an elementary school principal in both North Andover and Newburyport, was selected from a pool of nearly 30 applicants.
"Throughout the search process, Ms. Marx impressed us with her depth and breadth of curriculum knowledge across all levels, as well as her extensive experience with special education, curriculum implementation and professional development," Superintendent Jen Price and Incoming Superintendent Gregg Gilligan said in a joint statement. "We were both impressed with Ms. Marx’s intelligence, drive, communication skills, and collaborative approach to leadership."
North Andover named Gilligan superintendent in November. He was principal at the Thomson School prior to becoming assistant superintendent seven years ago. In September, Price announced she would be leaving at the end of the school year to accept a position as headmaster of the private Buckingham Browne & Nichols school in Cambridge. The announcement came after she signed a new, five-year contract, making her the first North Andover superintendent to re-up since the mid-1990s.
