North Andover Police Assist State Police In Chase

Several departments from towns along I-495 helped capture a woman accused of trying to hit a Haverhill Police officer with her car.

NORTH ANDOVER, MA -- The North Andover Police Department was one of several departments that helped Massachusetts State Police chase and eventually capture a woman who tried to hit a Haverhill Police officer with her car Friday afternoon. North Andover Police contacted State Police around 4:30 Friday afternoon to say they were pursuing the suspect on Interstate 495 after Haverhill Police had ended an earlier chase of the woman.

State Police eventually took over that chase but ended it after the woman avoided stop-stick tire deflation devices that had been place on the highway and exiting onto Main Street in Salisbury. Later on, Amesbury Police reported they were chasing the suspect southbound on Interstate 495.

The woman, whose identity was not released by State Police, was eventually stopped and captured after exiting the highway in Westford.
