North Andover Reports Potential Virus Exposure At HS Sport Clinic

Everyone who might have been exposed was contacted by the Board of Health, the town said.

NORTH ANDOVER, MA — A North Andover high school athletic clinic had a potential coronavirus exposure, the town said Monday.

Everyone who attended the clinic was notified in mid-July and those who might have been exposed were contacted by the Board of Health and told to quarantine, Superintendent Gregg Gilligan said. The clinic is closed.

“Due to HIPAA, the Town of North Andover is unable to release or discuss any individual COVID cases,” North Andover Health Director Brian LaGrasse said in a statement. “Individuals who have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 have been contacted by the Board of Health.”

Town Manager Melissa Murphy-Rodrigues said that the exposure was limited to the single sport clinic, and other programs, like Summer Fun, are unaffected.

“Our programs and clinics, under the direction of Executive Director of Youth and Recreation Services Rick Gorman and Director of Community Programs Rick Gallante, have been a safe and fun environment for our attendees and counselors," Murphy-Rodrigues said. "I’m so proud of the amazing work they have done.”
